<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">So yesterday I noticed that I did leave one thing out on my
roller post. Sometimes you’ll see vacuums with the description “Two Brush Agitator”. This can be misleading if you’re
not familiar with the terminology. but this does not mean that your vacuum
comes with two rollers. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">What this fancy wording actually means is that the
roller has two rows of bristles on the actual roller, instead of one. It does
not mean that your vacuum has two rollers. If you look at the picture, you’ll
see that the top one has one row of brushes, as opposed to the bottom two
brushes.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">There used to be a few vacuums that had a double
roller design, but none that I know of right now have this. I believe there were
some incidents where the two rollers were getting caught on the same item at
the same time, causing some damage to the machine.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Take a look at these two vacuums below. See a major
difference? Indeed, the purple one has a much larger head. But why is that?
Does it mean that the suction coverage area is bigger? Well… no, not necessarily.
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iBBVEo9TY70/T3txvXGuPGI/AAAAAAAAAII/QbA4KzxC6as/s1600/Simplicity+Canisters.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iBBVEo9TY70/T3txvXGuPGI/AAAAAAAAAII/QbA4KzxC6as/s320/Simplicity+Canisters.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The purple one is bigger because on the head of the machine is
an extra motor. This extra motor’s job is to spin the roller on the machine.
This allows the primary motor on the machine to focus on just generating
suction, resulting in a more powerful machine. For those of you who have read
my post on rollers, you’ll know why they’re important. If not, click <a href="http://vacuumenthusiast.blogspot.com/2012/03/everything-you-need-to-know-about.html">here!</a><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Most of these duel motor machines have a switch to turn on
one motor or both, because you might not want your brush roller furiously clawing
at your bare wood or scratch sensitive floors. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HMz0eApk2IU/T3tx9YPgcmI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/EdtmV6Egh0I/s1600/Proteam+15XP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HMz0eApk2IU/T3tx9YPgcmI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/EdtmV6Egh0I/s320/Proteam+15XP.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">However, having two motors is the leading cause of price
raises in vacuums. This is the main reason why an upright usually costs less
than a canister vacuum. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pBLgWGx6yfM/T3tyANdkpqI/AAAAAAAAAIY/Qr7anmT4odg/s1600/Oreck+upright+Procare+15XP+Dual+Motor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pBLgWGx6yfM/T3tyANdkpqI/AAAAAAAAAIY/Qr7anmT4odg/s320/Oreck+upright+Procare+15XP+Dual+Motor.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">There are also a few uprights that have dual motor, but all of
these are commercial machine, and there are only very few of them out there. The
Oreck on the left has a single motor, while the Procare on the right has a duel
motor. They say that a dual motor machine compared to a machine with a single
motor has double the suction, which makes sense when you think about it.<span style="text-transform: uppercase;"><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-69508554822587819672012-03-26T18:13:00.001-04:002012-03-26T18:13:44.503-04:00Everything you need to know about Vacuum Bags Part 3<br />

<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Bag-less vacuums share a lot of the problems that cloth bags do. </span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">You
have to manually dump them, it can get messy, and clumsiness may lead to dust</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">explosion. The added benefit is that you don’t have to spend any money on bags.
However, what you do have to spend money on is your filter. The filter on your
vacuum</span><span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">… Let’s look at the above picture that
I drew on my iPad. The blue is the vacuum, yellow is the airflow with dust,
green is airflow with dust and things dumped down, and pink is the clean air
that comes out. The red box is your filter. It filters out the air that comes
out your vacuum. This filter will have to be changed, and the biggest problem
with bag-less units is that your vacuum will lose suction quickly due to the
filter getting dirty.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">The Water Filtration system vacuums
(Rainbow) are iffy. The problem with water near electronics is that… there’s
water near your electronic. The way these work is that the dust you vacuum goes
through the water, and gets trapped in there. What you’re left with is really
dirty water, which must be handled with care when emptying it. It’s much more
of a hassle than it sounds, and if not handled properly or if there is any
fault in the workmanship, your vacuum will quickly rust, short circuit and/or
deteriorate. Plus the water gets really smelly if you leave it around too long.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;">There are, to my knowledge, 4 types of “bags”<br />
Paper bags, Cloth Bags, Bag-less and Water Filtration</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;">Paper bags are your traditional bags. Some have
more advanced features, like a docking system, or some sort of way that
attempts to trap dust inside when you’re changing bags. The majority of these
are successful, and innovation has really moved forward with these. This is illustrated with the second bag in the above picture. The flap here is closed automatically when you pull up on the bag to remove it from the vacuum. These are
your buy and toss bags, the simplest way to take care of your dust.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: medium;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">Cloth bags are bags that are meant to be used over
and over again over a span of time. They’re found mostly in commercial machines
and backpack vacuums (a-ha, did you know these exist?). The problem with these
is that the bag begins to deteriorate depending on what you’re vacuuming, and
it can get smelly and dirty. Also, you have to dump out the dust manually each
time it gets full, or, as stated in the last post, 75% full. Cloth bags will
either have small openings that dust will have difficulty getting out off, (bag </span><span style="line-height: 20px;">number</span><span style="line-height: 115%;"> 3) or
large openings that may allow dust to fly out freely (bag number 4).<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">Another mystery of the vacuum:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ack8LIRKdPs/T2TZgJhxT9I/AAAAAAAAAHk/rwWLiB4IaY4/s1600/holes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="197" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ack8LIRKdPs/T2TZgJhxT9I/AAAAAAAAAHk/rwWLiB4IaY4/s400/holes.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;"><br />
These little holes that appear on some of our canister vacuums. What is it for?
I should always keep it closed right? Physic says that if I open this then
suction will leak out, but why would I ever want less suction?<br />
Sometime it’s hard to connect 1 and 1. The point of these holes is so if you’re
vacuuming an area rug, and the suction on your vacuum is so strong that the rug
is sticking to your vacuum, then you can reduce the suction using this hole.
This way you can vacuum your rug, but not vacuum up your rug. Keep in mind that
you want to only let out enough suction that your rug is not being sucked up.
This is important on some machines, because on some the roller is powered by
the suction power.<br />
You’ll note that you’ll never see this on an upright. This starts to branch off
into Upright VS Canister, but that’s another discussion for another day. And
yes, <a href="http://hollywood-spy.blogspot.com/">DEZMOND</a> totally called
this out before I posted it. Good job!<o:p></o:p></span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-76476930524923828872012-03-16T17:22:00.001-04:002012-03-16T17:25:03.551-04:00Cute infographic.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Hi guys!
I recently made a cover photo for my Facebook page. Check it out <a href="https://www.facebook.com/VacEnthu">here!</a> Tell me what you think; I spent
about an hour on it. Feel free to like it while you're at it, and answer the poll there too!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">As a
thanks, here’s a sneak peak for the next post:<br />
Do you hate it when your vacuum suction is too strong that it sucks your area
rug up instead of just the dust? I’ll teach you how some vacuums remedy that tomorrow! Stay tuned!</span><span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-58245947726001661012012-03-14T14:18:00.002-04:002012-03-14T14:18:57.607-04:00Vacuum bag almost full? Change it!<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">Just
have a quick tip for you guys. For those of you with vacuums that have bags in
them, you might want to change the bag once its ¾’s full. This is because past
this point your vacuum starts to lose suction. This of course means don’t try
to compact the dust in there once it’s full. So next time you’re trying to
vacuum and you feel like your vacuum isn’t as strong as it should be, change
the bag!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Sylfaen","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">This
of course brings in a whole new topic of bag vs. bag-less vacuums. A discussion
for another day so stay tuned!<o:p></o:p></span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-89161606736614111052012-03-12T18:05:00.002-04:002012-03-12T18:05:22.843-04:00Editing doneSo after reading some of your comments, I went back and edited my roller post anyways. Now there's pictures! And I figured out how to make the page break. Turns out it was hiding in front of me all this time. There's a "Insert jump break" button on the blogger interface when you're writing/editing a blog, it's to the right of the "Insert a video" button and it looks like a... page being ripped in half. Funny and annoying how things can hide in plain sight huh?The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-62708726608918666482012-03-09T18:00:00.000-05:002012-03-09T18:00:24.782-05:00Editing Posts<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;">So
I've decided to go back and edit my vacuum roller post, because it seems to be
taking up a lot of space on my blog. How do I set it up so that only the top
part of the entire post shows up on the home page? And I realized that adding
pictures will defiantly help people see my point (hehe). In your blogging
experiences, how often have you edited a post after it’s been up for a while,
and do you see people comment on them afterwards?</span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-32705933430031802352012-03-06T18:06:00.000-05:002012-03-15T17:39:05.615-04:00Everything you need to know about Vacuum Rollers<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RzzPzRG1Q8g/T15xdQgVpyI/AAAAAAAAAHM/G9-RYg3vSyo/s1600/FILE0059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RzzPzRG1Q8g/T15xdQgVpyI/AAAAAAAAAHM/G9-RYg3vSyo/s320/FILE0059.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">The roller. The stick
with hairs sticking out. That thing that rolls around on the bottom of your
vacuum, winding up all the hair possible into a big ball, causing most people
to not look under their vacuum. For a long time you have not understood exactly
what the purpose of that thing actually does. Is it actually important? Does it
just wind up hair because your vacuum can’t pick it up? And how’s it roll so
fast…</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif;"><span style="font-size: 19px;"></span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif;"><span style="font-size: 19px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Well, for those of you
who have already saw the video, some of these questions are already answered.
But what else is there to know about this misunderstood item? <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">The purpose of the
roller is actually to kick up anything it comes in contact with. No matter how
much suction you have on a vacuum, sometimes you need something to kick up the
dust, and then it gets sucked up. This process is called agitation (cool word
right?). This is especially true when vacuuming carpets, because sometimes
carpets tend to grip dust, lint, and other things. <o:p></o:p></span><span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14.5pt; line-height: 115%;">Unfortunately, sometimes the roller grips your hair
too... more on this later.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Even with hardwood
floors, it helps to have something to agitate it. However, there have been rare
reports of rollers scratching up floors. To address these issues, most rollers
now only have bristles that do not damage floors. Most of them are made from
nylon or horsehair. It’s the rollers with an extra metal piece that you want to
stay away from. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">How does the roller
roll? Well the motor makes it roll, most of the time. This is important to find
out when purchasing a vacuum. Your
standard roller will be moved by the motor on the machine. This is ideal, and
is the case in most upright. Some cheaper ones will roll by suction, and that’s
not what you want. Most canister vacuums don’t have a motor on the end of the
vacuum head, and so it’s rolled by suction.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iCMGhFGUUjk/T15xc1Yc76I/AAAAAAAAAHE/AG3cd6xRqr4/s1600/FILE0055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iCMGhFGUUjk/T15xc1Yc76I/AAAAAAAAAHE/AG3cd6xRqr4/s320/FILE0055.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">If you’re looking for a
really high end vacuum, look for aluminum rollers. These rollers are more
lightweight, so they spin faster with less fear of breaking. The material
itself makes it more heavy duty, and so most commercial vacuums have rollers
made of aluminum or another type of metal. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ObwcQgZR2NU/T15xf5WC1cI/AAAAAAAAAHU/ZZF_XFY8gC8/s1600/FILE0061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ObwcQgZR2NU/T15xf5WC1cI/AAAAAAAAAHU/ZZF_XFY8gC8/s320/FILE0061.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif;"><span style="font-size: 19px;">Also, high end vacuum rollers will have a "ditch" that runs horizontally along the roller. This is for you to take a razor and cut all the threads and hair that gets tangled there! Doing this once a month will prolong the life of your roller, and also your belt, tenfold.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 6pt;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif;"><span style="font-size: 19px;">That's pretty much all I know about rollers. Hope this was an interesting read, and if people request it I'll try to post some pictures up.</span></span></div>The Vacuum Enthusiasthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03996655293334948717noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945034851208609197.post-36686850750929377872012-03-05T17:45:00.000-05:002012-03-05T17:45:29.772-05:00Woot 32 peices of Containers<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I use an old dish brush, a squirt of dishwashing soap, a little hot water and scrub away. When I'm done scrubbing, the dish brush gets rinsed and tossed in the dishwasher. What does this accomplish? <div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Welcome to my first blog post! I'm a
person who is very enthusiastic about vacuums, cleaning, and other things. I’m
a son of a mom who doesn't do much housework, a boyfriend of one
who's slightly messy (shhhh), and I have 2 dogs, a cat, and 4
cockatiels. At the end of the day this leaves me with a mountain of things to
clean. At this point, I find it therapeutic, and have learned to enjoy the
finer aspects of it.</span><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<u1:p></u1:p>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Sylfaen, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Since most of the blogs I've seen
are run by females I've decided to put a male spin on this topic. I feel like
vacuums are machines that are often misunderstood, and therefore are used
improperly or not to their potential. I've taken up to blogging to promote
cleaning, specifically vacuuming, and to document my journey through
social media. Later on I'll have reviews up and instructional videos on
certain topics. Let the blogging begin!</span><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
